Beach water polo is has become very popular in Europe in recent year. It is also to be included as a demo sport in the 2022 Fina World Championship in Fukuoka. In Japan, there has not been any Beach Water Polo tournament.
We, PikaPage Japan K.K. a company registered in Fukuoka City, propose to organize an international Beach Water Polo Tournament in Fukuoka.
The founder of PikaPage Japan, Leroy Yue, represented the Hong Kong water polo player at the Asian Games in 1990. He is passionate to promote water polo sport, as well as to promote Fukuoka, his new home town.
Teams from Asia as well as other cities in Japan will be invited to attend. We hope that such "sports tourism" will help to promote Fukuoka as an exciting destination for sports lovers in the world.
What is Water Polo? What is Beach Water Polo?
Water polo is one of the first team sports at the Olympics. It is normally played in a swimming pool.
At the Olympic level, water polo has been dominated by European teams. However, in recent years, the Japan team has shown significant improvement, astonished the water polo world by beating strong European teams, and ranked within top-ten in the world.
With Japan being host of the Olympics in 2021, we expect the Japan team to achieve good results.
Beach Water Polo
Beach water polo is a modified form of pool water polo. It has been difficult for water polo players to secure pool sessions in different countries. So innovative players experiment different ways to play in the sea. Court size, rules are modified to suit the sea environment.
Beach water polo is played at the beach, but also in lakes and other open-water environment.
Beach Water Polo Tournament in Fukuoka
Fukuoka City has beautiful beaches and harbors within easy access. The climate is moderate, and can accommodate open-water play many months a year.
The Fukuoka International Airport has regular flight to many domestic and international destinations. We hope that this tournament will further promote Fukuoka City as a must visit place for anyone planning a holiday trip in Japan.
